Good morning

thank you to everyone who has replied and helped me and dad lately

may I please ask, today the hospital has rang to once again cancel my dads radiotherapy treatment

again !! The machines broken down

this is now the second time it’s happened

will it make any difference I’m worried it will not be working for him keep having breaks in the treatment

today was the half way point 10 out of 20

but now it will be delayed again

although I understand the machines get absolutely hammered and things happen it just concerns me if it keeps on being cancelled will the radiotherapy work ??
thanks for any advise of course Iv not said this to my dad as he will worry

Hi Lesleymak77 the machine break shouldn’t have any impact whatsoever. The total dosage is what counts. As he has started RT, he will be prioritised to get through the course, so it should be over soon. Hope everything is going well.

The odd day or two (or three !) will make no difference whatsoever. I "lost" 2 days during my 20, immediately after the first lost day I was offered a day on the end or the next Saturday - I took the Saturday. The second lost day was almost at the end; they added it onto the end, which was also a Saturday..............I was quite happy to take that. (The car park was empty again !!)

We had two delays the first was due to machine breakdown and the second was because the department got flooded. They slotted my husband in with the maximum convenience to us. Before we started I asked what would happen if we had snow etc and couldn’t get through to the hospital ( this didn’t happen!) but again they said they just add the missing days on at the end.They seem to have it all under control!
