Hi everyone,
I had my first PSA test after just under 3 months of start of HT. My result was 0.61 down from 34. My radiation starts September for 37 days and I will be ongoing HT for another 2 years. Is my initial psa result OK ? As usual internet gives a conflicting opinion. Must tell myself to stop looking things up. Makes me overthink. Many thanks.
Under one is great so yes you’re overthinking. But as Millibob will tell you, there are plenty of causes of small changes in a PSA test including cycling, sex, (not at the same time I guess) and different test labs. However the 0.61 is a very small number so try and relax about it.
Overthinking is very normal. I’m a class act when it comes to over thinking too. But my and everyone’s advise is “ask here (Macmillian) and keep away from internet (Google) doctors”. So don’t hold back, ask away.
Hello Darksal
Got to agree with Mr U here. The gym session has possibly affected the reading but 34 to 0.61 is great - it shows the HT is working to put the cancer to sleep by depriving it of testosterone (it's food).
Once you "zap" it with Radiotherapy that should kill it off for good.
All's well - keep away from "Dr Google" and have a small celebration. .
Best wishes - Brian.
