Hello all hope everyone enjoying the weekend.  Husband  is 11 days into his first Prostap3 injection.  Not had too many side effects as yet apart from burning soles of  feet but since yesterday his ankles are quite swollen which is unusual for him.  Anyone else??  Wondering whether to contact GP regards this or its something just to be managed?

  • These drugs take a while to become effective so the side effects tend to build up rather than occur immediately. The exception is some sort of allergic reaction so if your husband doesn't normally suffer from swollen ankles it may be worth checking with your GP or oncologist.

Its also worth being aware that most of the side effects are the result of low testosterone not the Prostap itself. Testosterone will decline gradually following your first injection.

  • Thanks Sandberg

hes still also on bicalutimide for another week will monitor it and perhaps contact nurse after the weekend. Thanks for your input everything always feels a bit better after being here.

  • Hi Rooky,

As I have said may times before, different drugs can have a different effects on different people. I had my first Prostap3 injection on 16th May 2020 ( still on it ) and I have not had any side effects at all. I understand your concerns about new symptons appearing not long after starting a new treatment but a visit to your GP or a talk with your cancer specialist nurse will hopefully allay your concerns. Good luck.

    Take care, Tom
