Hormone therapy only experiences

Hello Wave tone1

All details in my bio......has anyone been treated with hormone therapy alone, particularly in advanced cases?

My partner started degarelix 3 weeks ago and the plan is to perhaps introduce Abireratone and see how he gets on with this.

When we met with the Urologist he seemed to think chemo, doublet or triplet therapy may be an option, however, since mdt with oncology, this seems to have been taken off the table for now.

Just keen to hear from anyone, I have read some stories which have been really helpful and we will have a discussion with oncology at the end of the month, ask lots of questions about treatment options.

Thank you Hearts️

  • I had a similar start but on Zoladex HT (for life) which brought my 90 PSA down to nothing and within 4 months started on aberiterone which for me was good for 15 months and then onto Olaparib.

The HT was very successful initially and still remains as a part of my treatment now. It gives you time to breathe and take stock, ask questions and let the clinical staff choose a treatment without any hurry providing the PSA is negligible of course. So don’t panic and rush into frenzy of in depth research just yet. We all learn along the way but the cancer will be put to sleep by the HT.

Everyones different but my HT was capable and apart from the dreaded flushes, easy to live with.

I hope that makes sense. Enjoy your trips away and live however you’d like to - because you both can.

  • hi polly

i've been on hormone treatment now for over 6 years .

zoladex injections every 12 weeks and 1000mg of abiraterone every day .

the usual fatigue ,weight gain , hot sweats , type 2 diabetes side effects !!.

be positive and exercise as much as he can it helps the fatigue believe it or not !!!
