So my history so far:
I've read about the PSA nadir, and PSA bounce. Lots of people talk about a PSA level that is undetectable, but is that the exception or the rule? What should I be looking for over the coming year or so?
Hello Agent99
So the Hormone Therapy puts the cancer to sleep. The Radiotherapy kills off the cancer cells - job done.
As both keep working long after being administered your expected nadir or lowest PSA should be 18 months after your radiotherapy.
The general rule is once you have reached your nadir no further action should be required unless you have 2 PSA tests in a row showing a rise or a rise of 2 whole points.
We are all different and all have a different nadir (mine was 0.29 and that was after 3 years HT!). It's not something you can generalise as humans we are not all the same!
I hope that helps.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Agent
I am assuming HT finished some months ago.
As long as the PSA doesn't start an upward trend then everything ok.
The first year at least a bit nerve-wracking cos u do keep wondering if PSA is ok.
But of course your PSA level at the moment is great, don't worry if it moves up slightly, hopefully you are getting regular PSA tests
Good luck
Steve
Hi Agent99 great results. Your PSA may continue to go down slightly over the next 6 months but if it doesn’t, don’t panic. Anything below 0.1 is great. It is only recently that PSA testing has gone down to the thousandth’s (when I started it was tenth’s), so minor movement were not picked up. As others have said, the trend over 3 consecutive readings is what the experts are looking at, one test with an increase is not generally an issue. Long may your PSA remain low. David
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
I was fortunate that I only needed 6 months of HT (2 jabs at 3 month intervals, with the last being early Feb 25). I was told it would take 3 months for the worst of the side effects to wear off, so mid August is my target date.
I believe I will be having PSA tests every 3 months for a year, then every 6 months. Also advised that they can include a testosterone test to see how that is recovering.
