Hi Everyone,
My Father suffered acute kidney failure around 7 months ago due to his prostate cancer which resulted in him having a bilateral Nephrostomy.
Due to infections he has had to have the Nephrostomy bags that sit over the wound on the back. He did attempt the method whereby the pipes come out of the back into day bags on a belt but despite there being upended on the back he repeatedly had trauma on the wounds that caused infections.
Whilst these bags have helped with the infections, my Father is suffering from regular leaks from the bags as they keep peeling off his back, especially from the bottom end of the bags.
We have tried heating the bags adhesive (and the same goes for the additional hydrocolloid “half moons” we also add but still the leakages persist.
Any tips on how to prevent this as it’s really getting him down? I am hoping there is some form of “hack” that people use.
Thank you in advance.
Hi Rob83, and a warm welcome to the forum, though I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, my friend Nephrostomy bags are very rarely mentioned on here, maybe you will get some answers, but could I suggest you join the kidney and bladder cancer forums, you could also ask on the some of the gynae forums, ovarian or cervical, my kids mum who had ovarian cancer, used www.inspire.com which had some good information on Nephrostomy bags as well, good luck and best wishes
Eddie
