Hi guys I think I've read somewhere that gas can be a problem during rt ,I start mine in a couple of weeks and I am.always gassy is there anything I can do to fix this and is this correct.    Thanks

  • Hi  , broadly speaking gas is not going to help with RT. I am sure others will be along soon, but avoid onions, cabbage, fizzy drinks etc.  I would try changing your diet now to see what is causing excess wind.  Good luck with the RT. David

  • Thanks just came back off a week's cruise and the last couple of days had a funny stomach (no  loose stools though)

  • The advice I was given was to have peppermint tea available. I have a gassy system, and they were right. It does help.

I had to drink quite a bit of it.

    I had peppermint tea.....

    Changed, but not diminished.
  • Hi Mace

I was told to cut down on fibre, white bread rather than wholemeal or seeded bread , broccoli, cabbage sprouts, anything that can cause wind. Avoid spicy food and caffeine if you can. They will probably give you a diet sheet which they gave to me in my second week. Don't suffer in silence if you're struggling with your bowel or bladder don't be afraid or embarrassed to say anything. They are there to guide you through your treatment. If they are concerned about wind they will help you as the radiographers can see it on the scan when you have your treatment session.

Hope all goes well for you

These might help and are available from the high street chemist.

Also drinking plenty of water and adding something like Greek yoghurt which has a probiotic helps adjust your gut flora.

All the best with your treatment.
