Hi
My husband has recently been to the GP as he had a small amount of blood in his semen , dr ran bloods ,semen culture and did a DRE , He felt a nodule on the prostate exam and the semen culture revealed a nasty infection. psa results 18 , age 54. Has anyone had a benign nodule due to prostatitis?
Thanks
Hello Mrs worry and welcome but remember that none of us are medically trained. From my understanding it is possible to have benign nodules in the prostate, particularly if you have an infection and this can also result in a high PSA. I would expect your husband to be put onto a course of antibiotics and then have a retest to see if the PSA goes down or remains high. It is only a biopsy which can confirm whether cancer is present and this, along with scans are needed to determine the type.
Please ask any questions and let us know how you get on.
Thank you , he is on the 2wk pathway awaiting first urologist app.
