Hello can anyone suggest anything to help my dad with his energy levels , he’s been fine upto the last few days
he’s on hormone treatment for prostrate cancer and the doctor did say to expect lethargy
but he’s wanting to drink Red Bull which Iv strongly advices against
just wondered if anyone had any advise or help
thanks Lesley x
I can only speak for myself but I’m always tired and it’s worse when I’m not occupied with something or a bit down. But I rest as much as I possibly can, if allowed by My Darling, which concentrates what strength I’ve got on the things I really must or want to do. I know it’s not much help, but sometimes I have to image I have strength even when I haven’t. The mind is a curious thing.
Unfortunately fatigue is one of the side effects.
You don't realise its not that bad until they put you on additional treatments that cause fatigue as well, then you get triple fatigue - Yay!
I wouldn't personally recommend Red Bull as it's horrible but I live on black coffee from my bean to cup machine so caffeine would probably help, just don't go mad and cause heart issues
The only thing I found to counter it is will power. It's hard but I have a dog that demands to be walked twice a day so I make myself take him for a walk. It does help but it also helps bring on the sweating - which is fun.
Other than that rest as much as you can. The HT injections can really take it out of you
Good Luck!
Thank you very much
it’s all very new to us, I’ll pass this unto my dad
Take care x
Thank you
I think sometimes he’s just going to have to have days of rest and accept it
best wishes to you x
The number one thing to counter act fatigue and tiredness from hormone therapy is excercise. Walking, biking, weight training, resistance band, aerobic; all types of excercise and preferbly every day some kind of excercise.
Of course it’s not easy to excercise because of fatigue and tiredness but you need to push through because the bonus is mostly less fatigue and tiredness
