Well, PSA results are back and it's up again as expected, now at 3.80.

Further blood tests ordered to test my testosterone (I can tell them it's back without a test Innocent) and liver and kidney function and a PSMA PET Scan is being ordered.

I will keep you all updated - I know now after 3.5 years why they call this a "journey"

Thank you all for your comments and good wishes and continued support across the entire Community.

Best wishes

  • Hi Steve, hope you won’t mind me intruding on your conversation.   The popular mindfulness method can be done by people of any religion or none, although it originated in Buddhism and has been taught in Buddhist monasteries for over 2000 years.  As a Buddhist myself, I’ve been doing mindfulness meditation (or awareness meditation as preferred by some traditions) for many years.  Personally, I’ve found it of great benefit, and a relief, when the negative thoughts start whirling (particularly in respect of my husband’s ongoing cancer journey), to just immerse myself in whatever I’m doing, e.g. walking, washing up etc, or just breathing and if a thought pops up, acknowledge it and let it go rather than get caught up in it.  I must admit it isn’t always easy to do though!

Mindfulness meditation has become rather commercialised in recent years but fortunately there are plenty of instructions online without having to pay out a lot of money for courses.

I hope you will find it helpful.

  •   I don't mind at all.  I have tried some 'mindfulness' in counselling but I can't get away with it.  I probably wasn't doing it right.  I need to clear my head.  Some people might say "that won't take long!"

    Thanks for your message.

  • Hello All

So my CT scan review (Scan was on 8 September) is a face to face on 23 October - I assume as the scan was over a month ago there's nothing to get excited about!! I have been told not to bother with a PSA before the meeting as all is good!

Started back on HT with a 6 monthly Decapeptyl on 22 September (administered by our local darts champion) sorry administered by my Urology nurse. Innocent,

As I have previous form with HT and in the 3 years added 3.5 stone to my weight (my budgie smugglers don't fit now) my Oncologist doesn't want me to add to my weight so this morning I started a weekly jab of Ozempic. I did tell her we have a new rescue greyhound and my daily step count is up - but she wants my weight down!

I will keep you all posted - thanks for your continued support - not just for me but across the entire group.

    Kind regards - Brian.

  • Sounds good bri.   Keep up the good work

  • Putting on weight I would not apologise for as that’s the engine room for keeping the dreaded cancer at bay.

You have our continued support and praise the work you do each day to help us.

Brian you’re a star and a few more walks in the week will do no harm.

    Good luck

  • Hi Brian. Sorry to see you in this incredibly unfair situation but I guess things will be more clear after your meeting. At least you will be cutting an even finer figure on the Turkish beaches :) Wishing you the absolute best for your meeting and ongoing treatment.

  • We’re here Brian. With love and best wishes always

  • Hi Brian good luck for your appointment for your scan

I can’t offer any advise as it’s you who advises me with everything but regarding the scan my brother had his end of July only got results this week which I’ve told you about and his oncologist said that if the scan was bad news they certainly would have had him in straight away  not wait till October so I wish you all the best

    take care

  • Brian, fingers crossed for your Oncologist appointment on 23rd.

I bet you didn't tell the oncologist that the dog only gets as far as the pub.

I don't think I ever worked out how much weight the hormones added to me.  I know it took a couple of years basically to get rid of it (no fat jabs available then).

You had better be careful smuggling budgies into Turkey!  Did you ever watch 'Midnight Express'???

All of us are behind you, all the way!!!
