Well, PSA results are back and it's up again as expected, now at 3.80.

Further blood tests ordered to test my testosterone (I can tell them it's back without a test Innocent) and liver and kidney function and a PSMA PET Scan is being ordered.

I will keep you all updated - I know now after 3.5 years why they call this a "journey"

Thank you all for your comments and good wishes and continued support across the entire Community.

  • Hi

This is something I found on the Hormone therapy page of "Prostate Cancer UK" which is a valid source of information to look at like Macmillan info. So it could be a possible option for men that are faced with HT for life and are struggling with it.

    "Intermittent hormone therapy

If you’re on life-long hormone therapy and are finding the side effects difficult to manage, you might be able to have intermittent hormone therapy. This is where you stop hormone therapy when your PSA level is low and steady, and start it again if your symptoms get worse or your PSA rises to around 10 or higher."

  • Good Morning Lorraine (

Well, I am amazed. I ambled out and met my mates as usual on a Wednesday night. We are all open with our personal health issues and I said I was going to take it steady and see how it goes.

I had a couple of pints less than I normally do - and it tasted good - the thing was the other 3 lads slowed down to my reduced rate. I only tend to have a drink twice a week unless it's a special occasion so yes it's working and I hope I will still be able to enjoy a pint (or 3).

    Thanks for your support.

    Kind Regards - Brian xx

That is a result ! Maybe I should change from wine to beer!
    Beer

  • Amazing, you could actually have a way for others to cut down on the Beer beers, "Drink with Brian!!". Plus get others to pay for your drinks and they will still save money!!

  • But I read all the side effects - and I will need a drink to get over them, besides Real Ale is a natural product and the Government say I can have 14 units per week.

Hmmmm. You believe what the "guvmint" says?

  • Seamus, if that's what they say... But knowing the gvtmt there will be a catch, or loads of extra tax s to pay, or have to give up your home... allegedly of course!

  • Hello

I was in your neck of the woods a few weeks ago on holiday (well Linlithgow) and to be honest I have no idea how people can afford 14 units in Scotland!

I look at having a couple of beers as medicinal (it helps clear my CKD in my kidneys) it helps the economy (keeping people in a job and paying tax) it is good for my mental health (I get out and socialise) and it's good for Lorraine (it gets me out of her way!).

Seriously though I am a firm believer that if you have the right frame of mind you can tackle anything and a little bit of what you fancy does you a world of good.

I hope you are keeping well. We are back in the greyhound club having rescued another 6 year old ex racer 4 weeks ago.

    Kind Regards - Brian

  • I remember the days when 14 units was often considered a warm up for an extended session.

Made in 1956. Tested to destruction.

  • Hi Brian. I'm great thanks. Still walking 5 miles every day and rowing a couple of times a week. I started rowing in a single a couple of weeks ago and it's very wobbly but I have managed to stay in the boat so far and not in the water!

I hope your new greyhound settles in OK. They can be quite depressed after leaving the routine of the racing kennels.

  • Hello

Glad all is well at Seamus Towers.

As for Ryder (or Headford Holly as how was known when racing) - he's good. We've had him 4 weeks today and he's settled into our routine fine. We thought we may have issues as he's been in the dog's home for almost 2 years (he's 6). Apparently no one wants to adopt a black greyhound!

    Kind Regards - Brian.
