Well, PSA results are back and it's up again as expected, now at 3.80.

Further blood tests ordered to test my testosterone (I can tell them it's back without a test Innocent) and liver and kidney function and a PSMA PET Scan is being ordered.

I will keep you all updated - I know now after 3.5 years why they call this a "journey"

Thank you all for your comments and good wishes and continued support across the entire Community.

Best wishes

  • I don't think Thinking mounjaro is doing anything for me.. at best it's keeping my weight even Relieved

  • Reading this during a pause in my hiking tours (group flew back to UK yesterday).  All the best from sunny Malta.   AW

  • Hi

I'm picking your brain today. BW (where you go he goes) is now having a few side effects and problems with HT (for life) so he will be coming off all medication soon. For a break and a look and see.  Last jab December. We have asked in the past for intermittent HT so nows a good time. The optimistic words, " you had a very nasty cancer, but you never know there could be a slight chance of a cure." have been mentioned... But we are more pragmatic and prefer not to think on those lines and consider it as temporary respite.  What I am after is your timeline from ending HT to starting again. It looks like roughly a year? How long was it till you noticed a shift upwards in PSA. Obviously everyone is different, but it will give us a practical base line to think about.

I did read a paper a while back about intermittent HT and how beneficial it can be to take a break, because when you restart your body accepts it as if it's a new drug which then elongates the time you can stay on it... Would be excellent if that is the case.

Well done with the decreasing waist line.

    xx Lorraine

  • Hi Lorraine I would also like a break Slight smile from ht as it wipes me out on the afternoon. I will be interested in any practical advice...I have been  on ht since February

  • I came off HT completely at the end of August after 1 year. So many people tolerate HT well. Some don’t. I’m one of the unlucky ones. Since coming off HT my side effects are worse than when I was on it. Brain fog and severe pain in hands and feet are my two worst. On top of this I suffered bowel damage in the form of radiation proctitis. So currently I’m in a poor state of health but still smiling. I’m still here after all and I’m hoping I’ll improve. Much love to all on our journeys. It’s not easy but here we are

  • Hi

BW's been on it for roughly Three Years a Pincer movement of Abiraterone and Zoladex. I watched his journey and there's been some real ups and downs with it. The only piece of advice that I think is helpful and has had the biggest positive effect for him against fatigue/feeling low is to exercise as much as you can. Being a wife, I try to understand how it is for you men taking HT, but I will never truly know. I read you said Mounjaro is not really working that well for you which is a shame as that extra bit of weight can drag you down as well. I've been taking Wegovy (similar) for a while and I now understand that it's not a quick fix as I first thought it would be, I still have to look carefully at what I eat for it to work. If it's anything like Weygovy I know now that it is just an appetite suppressant and incredibly helpful in taking away cravings. But I can still eat badly on it and lose nothing. Maybe have a kick start with a daily walk or something else you enjoy and look again at what you are eating may help with the fatigue.

  • Like most our age I have diverticulitis and  radiotherapy gave me chronic constipation and mounjaro makes it even worse.    There is mainly, due to the media a misconception that it just drops off..  it doesn't.

  • Hello Lorraine (

So with an initial PSA of 182 I always thought I wouldn't get away with 3 years HT/RT and then walk off into the sunset............

My last 6 monthly HT injection of Decapeptyl was in June 2024 and since then,  my PSA's have been:

    08/24 -   0.29

    02/25 -   1.63

    05/25 -   3.86

    09,25 - 27.74 Rage

I went back on Bicalutamide on 04/09 and a 6 month Decapeptyl injection on 22/09.

In my previous life on 3 years HT my side effects were many, brain fog, hot sweats, fatigue, itchy skin, weight gain (over 3,5 stone) , I can cry for England, loss of body hair, shrunken testicles and penis, ED and I've grown my own pair of 36DD's!! Innocent

I mastered the lot and apart from 2 bad weeks about 18 months in with just feeling "down", mentally I am up for the new challenge.

I have started to lose weight since coming off HT but my consultant doesn't want me to put it back on so I have just started on Ozempic this week.

We are thinking lifelong HT with "Holidays" but lets see how it goes.

    Kind Regards - Brian xx

  • Brian, you have all of us behind you, all the way!

Is the "holidays" referring to Turkey or breaks in your hormone treatment?  Not that it would stop you from going to Turkey of course.

My PSA has nearly doubled since February, still a paltry 0.30

    Take care
