Hi everyone. Just got back from having my PSA test. They said the results will be back by Thursday and they'll phone me if they need to.
I've made an appointment on the 4th of February with my GP to discuss the test results and to talk about my concerns, having lost my father, grandfather and great grandfather to prostate cancer in their 40s.
The nurse was really lovely, she said the problems with urinating could be so many things, I hope so.
I.just have to wait and hope that my doctors don't phone me on Thursday!
Hello Ijs1977
Good luck with your results on Thursday - we all hate waiting for results!! (if you have the NHS App with full access to your records and live in England you should be able to see your results at the same time the GP gets them).

Hello Amnesiac
Everywhere has different facilities. First off you need to be in England (not Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland) and ask you GP for full access to your records. Each Health Trust (and there are 216 at the last count) goes their own way. I live north of Manchester and come under 3 Trusts :-
I live in the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust Area - GP and Hospital Data goes on my NHS App.
My urology is under Manchester University Trust - Nothing goes on the NHS App, they have their own app called "My Chart" it's all on there.
My oncology and ongoing care is The Christie NHS Trust - no information on the App.
You need to check with your trust what information is available - it's the "National" Health Service!!
I hope this helps.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hello Amnesiac, the hospital my husband attends operates differently. If our GP requests a PSA blood test the result can be viewed on our nhs and/ or GP records. If a hospital consultant requests a blood test the results are a state secret! Apparently the systems don’t talk to each other!! So, we get around this by asking the surgery to put in a blood request form alongside the hospital form. Then the results come to my husband.
i think this denying results for p anxious patients ( and their wives/ partners) is downright cruel!
Hi Worriedwife. I think I’ve felt far more anxious waiting, and waiting for results of scans and blood tests than I had with the actual cancer. I was expected to wait nearly 5 weeks for my first PSA result after op. This is a result apparently available 2 hours after test. I circumvented via gp appointment who gave me result (thankfully undetectable). You’re right, it is downright cruel.
Hello Ijs1977
I am sure the GP practice will help. Make sure you ask for FULL access to your records - I don't think they like it but we are entitled to it.
Best wishes - Brian.
