Hi my name is Peter

I was having treatment for an overactive bladder with prostate blood test as part of treatment which came back at 7.7.  I then had an ultrasound, GP said I had enlarged prostate but nothing of concern.  Has MRI scan as part of pathway which has revealed lesions on prostate rated 4 and 5.  Having a biopsy, no noted signs of other lesions throughout body. Notes 66.9% chance of prostate cancer and really worried and having bad anxiety and not sleeping, I have the constant peeing which I thought was my over active bladder no pain peeing small leaking and sometimes stop and start to finish,I've pretty much resigned myself to having prostate cancer and finding very tough to deal with like everyone with the horrible disease, any helpful advice would be much appreciated

Kind regards

Peter

  • Hi all

Had my biopsy yesterday was bad but not as bad I thought it would be.

Cat scan in two to three weeks, which I'm very nervous about but hopefully with a psa of 7.7 and a density of 0.1 and nothing has spread from the pelvic area and lymph nodes from mri scan three weeks ago, nothing new will appear..

Biopsy results a week today which I'm prepared for a cancer of some sort hopefully not aggressive.

    Hope your all well

    Peter

  • Hi Peter ( ) well that’s the worst bit over physically.  The waiting is hard but you are at a good starting point with a low PSA.  A few weeks wait really isn’t likely to matter even with an aggressive Gleason 9 and there is nothing to indicate your score will be anywhere near this. Keep us posted and just get on with normal things.  Best wishes, David

  • Thanks David

Obviously very apprehensive about the cat scan fingers crossed nothing else is picked up ,the specialist said the leison is a tiny bit outside the gland, as you said hopefully with a lowish psa all is OK

    Peter

  • Sounds similar to mine, a bone scan confirmed there was no spread. Had a prostatectomy a month later

    Good luck with the results.

  • Sorry to hear that Peter, I'm similar with the frequent peeing but I think it's separate with me to the prostate cancer as it's been going on for years!

I had mine removed a month ago and I'm getting back to normal slowly, I hope you are able to choose your course of treatment carefully and just remember you're not alone with this.

  • Hi Stew

I've got a overactive bladder so I'm peeing a lot to regardless of the prostate cancer, yeah hopefully the scan doesn't find anything fingers crossed as someone mentioned its very rare with a psa under 10 to spread to distant parts.

Hope you don't mind me asking did you choose your treatment or went with what was advised  ?

Glad your getting back to normal slowly

    Regards Peter

  • Because my lesions were localised and I'm 61 with no other medical conditions I was advised that a Prostatectomy was the best option, it's not without problems I got an infection with the catheter now removed and on antibiotics but peeing normally and just finished the month long blood thinning injections.

Just take everything slowly and consider the relatively straightforward surgery with the other types of treatment offered.

  • Got to get past the scan first ,I'm 56 and have a leison just outside the capsule and a tiny one inside, so fingers crossed the scan goes well ,

Hope you are feeling better, I saw what catheters can do my dad had one and had numerous infections not good

  • Hi all

I'm just worried the time in-between my ultrasound results three weeks ago this coming Wednesday and my cat scan which is on the 22nd November

Im worried  that it could spread to lymph nodes pelvic area other organs and bones had my biopsy yesterday get results next Friday will I get a gleeson score?

    Best wishes

Sorry deleted a reply as message printed came out twice

  • Peter, yes you should get a Gleason and staging (TNM) from your biopsy.  If PCa is found then you should start to see a treatment plan emerge.  Remember that by the time most men die, they have PCa but it isn’t a problem.  It sounds to me that if you have it, then it’s quite an early stage and certainly curable.  There are guys on here who have PSA in the thousands.
