Hi my name is Peter

I was having treatment for an overactive bladder with prostate blood test as part of treatment which came back at 7.7.  I then had an ultrasound, GP said I had enlarged prostate but nothing of concern.  Has MRI scan as part of pathway which has revealed lesions on prostate rated 4 and 5.  Having a biopsy, no noted signs of other lesions throughout body. Notes 66.9% chance of prostate cancer and really worried and having bad anxiety and not sleeping, I have the constant peeing which I thought was my over active bladder no pain peeing small leaking and sometimes stop and start to finish,I've pretty much resigned myself to having prostate cancer and finding very tough to deal with like everyone with the horrible disease, any helpful advice would be much appreciated

Kind regards

Peter

Everyone tells me it very unlikely The GP the urology clinical prostate nurse specialist but I'm just thinking the worst ,not sleeping hardly very depressed and anxiety probably like newly diagnosed guys plus I'm naturally a big worrier which doesn't help.

  • Yes Peter, i understand, it is a nerve wracking time.

You will feel better once they have said , not spread elsewhere and there is a treatment pathway planned.

At least you know what that is cos if just escaped the gland RT prob a better bet and it does sound like u are happy with that treatment

  • Hi Peter,

I had the results of my bone scan by phone the day after the scan.  That was in June last year & not sure if it's normally that quick, but hopefully you won't have too long to wait.

Fortunately mine showed no spread (great news) but then she had the cheek to say the bones showed the wear & tear expected in a man of my age - & there was me thinking I was still in my prime.

Hope all goes well for you.

  • Hi Peter. My husband broke his back many years ago and since then he has a curvature on the spine which throws off his balance. He gets severe pain in one hip as one side is compensating for the imbalance and probably similar to your modified gait. He has exercises to strengthen muscles but also sees an osteopath who is a miracle worker. Basically an expert might help you with physiotherapy, manipulation but also teach you how to use appropriate exercises? We have also invested in a massage gun which I use on him 3 times a week - the things you do for love spending time massaging a bum!!!!

Sleep - a problem I have had since hubby's diagnosis. Sleeping tablets knock you out but I don't like the after effects next day. Have tried all the normal things like no caffeine - no difference. Chamomile tea didn't do it. Avoiding blue light before bed made no difference.

Macmillan do a summary which might help.

You are part of the family and we try and help if we can.

  • Hi ya

Like you I've tried everything sleeping tablets lavender sprays been taking two valiums waking up at 1.30am 4am ,was just worried about the thigh pain hopefully connected to hip ache but get paranoid with this rotten PC, will get my partner to give me a massage hopefully avoiding my ungainly bum Sweat smile pet scam Friday which my dreading get results.

    Regards

  • Hi me again

Another thing that's worrying me is I sometimes have some pain in my hips mainly the left hip which I put down to wear and tear as my right leg is bend after a accident where I tore my meniscus and my ligaments got stuck so right leg is not straight, nothing showed up on hips on mri scan which was good but I get a pain in my left thigh hopefully connected to hip pain which has been worrying me a dull ache

Mentioned it at the GPs who just said if anything it will show up in pet scan so wasn't concerned as he said highly unlikely cancer has spread has me worried though

Taking antidepressants anxiety tablets and valium to try and sleep but can't remember the last proper sleep I've had since being told I've two leisons on prostate on mri nearly a month ago, not after any sympathy as I know we are all going through it but has anyone got any recommendations for trying to sleep please ?
