Hi my name is Peter
I was having treatment for an overactive bladder with prostate blood test as part of treatment which came back at 7.7. I then had an ultrasound, GP said I had enlarged prostate but nothing of concern. Has MRI scan as part of pathway which has revealed lesions on prostate rated 4 and 5. Having a biopsy, no noted signs of other lesions throughout body. Notes 66.9% chance of prostate cancer and really worried and having bad anxiety and not sleeping, I have the constant peeing which I thought was my over active bladder no pain peeing small leaking and sometimes stop and start to finish,I've pretty much resigned myself to having prostate cancer and finding very tough to deal with like everyone with the horrible disease, any helpful advice would be much appreciated
Kind regards
Peter
Hi Psb2024,
All should be revealed when you have your planning scan, but make sure you have a list of any questions you have thought of with you just to make sure the points are covered.
As far as the enema goes, I was instructed to wait 15 minutes after using it & then go to the loo. As it's a micro enema there isn't that feeling of urgency so I was able to sit quite comfortably in the waiting area until the time was up.
Best Wishes
Brian
Hi Peter,
My partner has just finished 5 sessions of RT, he was worried about the preparation before each session. At the planning stage they explained everything very well. We would arrive at the hospital 1 hour and 10 mims before the time on the sheet, do the enema and wait 20 mins, then pop to the loo and wait, it wasn't a rushed feeling so could sit and relax until he went, that would take 10 mins or so. Then drink the water, they gave us a plastic water bottle at planning stage that's 500mls that needed to be finished 30 mins before the time on the sheet. The 1st one he had too much wind and needed to repeat the whole thing, but after that the rest were fine, they told us to drink 2.5 ltrs each day which was a struggle.
Hope all goes well for you.
Jane
Hi Peter,
It is exactly a year ago when Jacob did the RT. Honestly I was so stressed but actually it was not bad at all and it does wonders to suppress the PC. We did the enema at home about 2 hours before the appointment so he will be at ease at his own bathroom when needed. When I think back on the last 18 months this was one of the easiest bit. I find the staff are always so helpful and the waiting room is full of people like yourself so lots of chats and laughter. I wish you best of luck for an easy journey.
Lots of love
Dafna
Hi Dafna
Thanks a lot for replying to my message, I'm the same as will be using the enema at home hopefully,
Hope Jacob is doing well
Best wishes

Hi all
Just seen the urology specialist done a flow test which I was told was weak had a ultersound which showed I keep about a cup full of urine in my bladder, urologist said I could have a blockage in the bladder so prescribed me Tamsulosin which will hopefully improve my flow and sort out the blockage ,if the tablets don't work over 4 weeks I will have to have another procedure with a tube in my penis and backside
So looks like radiotherapy delayed till bladder sorted out ,not good news but shit happens
Best wishes
Peter
Hello Peter (Psb2024)
It may not be the best news but at least it's sorting your issues out. My Radiotherapy was delayed by about 8 months because I had an indwelling catheter and needed a TURP operation.
Prostate Cancer, "the gift that keeps giving". I had a catheter change every 13 weeks and I was awake during the TURP operation, in fact the surgeon was between my legs with his toolkit up my penis whilst we were doing the "Popmaster" quiz on the radio!! I have also had 3 colonoscopies.
Dignity is a word that had been lost in my vocabulary BUT all in the cause of my journey. Every member of staff in the NHS was very professional with the attitude - don't worry, we've seen it all before!!
Don't worry you will be fine.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi everyone,
Got the news from oncologist that my planning scan is Monday and I start radiotherapy 7 August for 20 week days. Will be having the radiotherapy with an empty bladder due to my overactive bladder, which is a relief. Will be doing enema at home around 07:00 as appointment is 09:15 for planning scan, does this only make you go once as we will be travelling in car and worried I may be caught short. Any advice on how to get through the radiotherapy would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
Peter
