I started Zoladex treatment 11 weeks ago. During the first 6 weeks I had 4 violent diarrhoea episodes and a painful and bloated abdomen. I eventually suspected Zoladex might be the cause. Went to GP. Usual tests, all clear, they now suspect Zoladex. Spoke to cancer team, they say this is not usual, but have stopped more Zoladex. Symptoms receding as I get to the end of the 3 month drug effect. Does anyone else have this experience?
Hi !
Sorry to here your reactions to Zoladex (probably) and not really a nice start of hormone therapy. There are of course other variants luckily for you to start. Zoladex is agonist variant of HT and perhaps they could have you test a antagonist variant like Firmagon (injection) or Orgovyx (daily pill).
Just curious, I suppose they had you on Bicalutamide (Casodex) in time (x weeks) before you had your first Zoladex correct?
Best wishes - Ulf
Hi !
Good and just checking. Anyway, lots of alternatives instead of Zoladex and if I understand you correctly those serious side effects is gone / has diminished and you still have some time left before you need a refill of some sort.
My personal experience is with Firmagon (monthly injection) and currently Orgovyx (daily pill) and they are both HT antagonist both but do the same as Zoladex (which is a agonist); suppressing the production of Testosterone.
Best wishes - Ulf
