Has anyone tips of how to prepare your body systems before hormone, injection and radiotherapy treatment? Foods etc. my husband has a few months before we agreed to start treatment.
Good Afternoon Cumbrialady
It's a case of being as fit as you can be and eating as healthy as you can. Here's a link to our guide to physical activity and cancer.
The fitter he is - the easier the journey.
Best wishes - Brian.

I second Millibob on his advice about trying to be as fit and health as possible. Try to stay away from processed food and to stick to whole food.
You've mentioned radiotherapy so I want to mention something specific during that process. One thing that is typically considered good against cancer and inflammation are antioxidants. Food that are high on antioxidants include dark chocolate, spinach, berries, artichokes, kale, red cabbage, beets, apples, etc....
But you should avoid eating any antioxidants about a week before radiation begins, during the radiation sessions and about two weeks after the radiation sessions have concluded.
The reason for this is that radiation attacks cancer using free radicals, Antioxidants helps your body get rid of free radicals. While normally this would be a good thing, in this particular scenario it is not because it would reduce the impact of the radiation. So it is preferable to put the "eating good habits" on hold for the couples of weeks that surround your radiation sessions.
Also, if radiation is to your prostate, which it likely is, you also want to avoid eating anything that might give you gas during the radiation sessions. So stay away from brocoli, cauliflower, onions, etc... during that time. But get back to eating those once you are done with radiation.
Best of luck to you!
Hi
I agree with the others.
Poole hospital gave us a diet sheet to follow whilst on RT. Basically, low fibre everything, no green veg, no caffeine, no alcohol. In fact, the recommended diet was 'unhealthy' in isolation.
Follow it religiously - I didn't for Christmas lunch 2019 and it really wasn't a good idea!
Regards
Stuart
Hi Cumbrialady.
Good morning and welcome it's great to meet you today.
I started my PC Journey last June 2023 I was put on to HT and my PSA dropped from 1000+ to currently 0.9.
I have got my next PSA check with my consultant in a few weeks time so hopefully things haven't changed.
The HT is causing me "hot sweats + fatigue"
I currently use a "neck fan + wet flannels for the"hot sweats" & I have to manage my day to help with my "fatigue"
