Hi everyone my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January 2019. He got the gold bars in had the treatment told us he is cured.
But he still goes to the beatson in Glasgow has a nurse assigned to him. She rings him every so often he goes to see her.
My question is in the past six weeks he has had about ten repeated blood tests I'm just wondering why.
He is old school he is 84 this year don't like to discuss things if you understand what I mean.
He is still losing weight I'm worried.
Hi Granny and welcome
I suppose you need to find out what the blood tests are showing and what they are actually looking at, I presume PSA but not Def.
Looks like he had the Radiotherapy, if you have a Gleeson score and PSA at the time treatment started and any PSA since that would help
Regards
Steve
Thanks Steve I will try as said he don't even let mum go in to doctors with him
Just one thing in answer to your actual question, 10 blood tests in 6 weeks is not normal so questions do need to be asked.
All the best
Steve
Hi Grannieoff4, the usual reason for repeat testing, though not always, is that the results of the tests are borderline, and as your dad is 84, want to see if results settle enough by themselves so treatment may not be needed yet, which everyone wants, though the repeat testing will also show immediately if and when treatment may be necessary. take care.

Hi Granny The old school are very set in their ways and the Beatson staff are lovely as I go there,it’s a lot off blood tests in a short time and I’d try investigating further but the old school are stubborn as we look after my Mum who’s 87 and has Alzheimer’s so I know how you feel, hope you get to the bottom of things xxx
Thank you my dad is a very stubborn man he just keeps saying he is ok that's what worries us more x
