Hi to everyone, sad we have to meet like this but upwards and onwards.I’ve been for all the diagnostics, scan, biopsies, and bone scan,I got my results last week,so from a psa of 7.2 the mri scan showed advanced locally spread so was then sent off for a trans rectal biopsy and the results came back as a stage 3 , grade 5,Gleason 9 (devastated) I was put on hormone treatment straight away and it was suggested I would be getting the new sabre therapy has anyone else had this type of radiotherapy if so how did it go. All this and no symptoms.tia
Hi jonny five and welcome to the forum, i am sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and being devastated is normal with a cancer diagnosis as the guys on here know, and it is surprising how many guys had no symptoms before diagnosis, i have not had SABR therapy, but i am sure a couple of the guys on here have. If you type in SABR treatment at the top of the page you should get results i had the normal external beam radiotherapy as my treatment area was quite large. Like we all do i am guessing you have started researching your condition and treatments. but please do not google, PC UK, Macmillan and here are much better, jonny five i also have locally advanced prostate cancer with similar stats to you except my TNM staging is T3b/4. N1 M1, so i wish you well with your treatment, The people on here really help and support each other however they can, so if you have any more questions, concerns or just want to chat you are always welcome her, please take care, Eddie
Hello Jonny five A warm welcome to the prostate Cancer forum (and the Gleason "9" club - I am a member too !!).
Yes, it's devastating news but at least you are now diagnosed and have a treatment plan. The hormone therapy will stop any further spread - the RT will kill the cells off- so that's the plan.
Most members of the "club" are the old guard having either 20 or 37 doses of RT but there are a couple of Community members who have had the new fangled 5 doses so I hope they read your post and respond.
I do encourage people to start a diary of their journey - this lets members of the club know just where you are with your treatment - it also helps people to see where you have been as all our journeys are slightly different - you can read mine by clicking on the icon of the beach.
If you have any questions - however trivial please feel free to ask - you will get answers.
Best wishes - Brian.
