Good evening all,
Just finished an appt with the oncologist. Husband diagnosed last week with advanced PC to the bones and nodes.
He started the HT with view to enhance it with 2nd generation HT after the first PSA.
All good, but what I learnt today is that the body will develop resistance after 3 years ( average)
I would love to hear from anyone who has HT for over 3 years and what happen then. Is anyone there with 5 year HT?
Thank you good people love to hear form you.
Dafna
Hello dafna and welcome. Your emotions will probably be all over the place right now, I know mine was when my husband was diagnosed back in April. I spent hours and hours researching prostrate cancer trying to find the answer I wanted rather than the medical answer that I didn't want. In the end I wore myself out. We are all here for you so any questions don't be afraid to ask
You are learning fast Dafna. We seem to have a weather reversal today. I live in Greece and it is tipping down with rain with thunder ️ and lightening. A good day to make the Christmas cake and puds. Have already made the mincemeat and couldn't resist making some mince pies. It's good diversion therapy to get your mind off prostate cancer.
Hi Shar,
Yes you are right, my emotions are all over the place and I do not sleep. I sleep bad in normal times so now it is not very nice. But all of you are helping so much so thank you Shar. I am just looking at diet for HT to avoid bones thinning. Any thips?
Lots of love
Dafna
Thank you Alwayshope. I dot not cook, he does. But later if no winds will go for a walk and coffee.
Thank you again for all the help
Lots of love
Dafna
Did you train him to do the cooking or did he come like that? Lucky you although I do enjoy cooking, but we are lucky to have very reasonable tavernas so often go out for meals or a coffee by the seafront.
Diet wise we have reduced considerably dairy products but make sure that plant milk replacements are fortified with Calcium. Our doctor advised us to take Calcium and Vitamin D supplements because the HT can leach calcium from the bones but with any supplement run it by your doctor before taking it.

Hello Dafna

That's just reminded me. Get you G P to prescribe Calcium/Vitamin D tablets to slow down any potential bone thinning.
My consultant/GP forgot and it was only later when someone on here reminded me did I start on them!!
Oh - and can you send some sunshine to Oldham please? As usual here it's cloudy and overcast!!
Best wishes - Brian.

No he came like that. He is the creative type, I am the pragmatic.
Are dairy products bad for PC? they are full of calcium!

Thanks Brian. I already put him on vitamin D and will talk to the GP regarding calcium.
The sun in Brighton comes with winds. Do you want them as well?/
Lots of love

Hi Dafna
No thanks you can keep them. I have a great deal of affection for Brighton / Worthing as I spent most childhood holidays from age 4/5 to 16 there every year. I am 68 now and last time I was there in 2021 much had changed - and I am not sure if it was for the better or not - But you still have the Volk's Electric Railway running along the beach - that hadn't changed in 60 years (apart from the ticket price!!).
Thanks for bringing back some great memories.
Best wishes - Brian x
