Hi all my PSA as started to rise. I've been on AS for two years now and in that time it's mainly been in the 5 marker, up untill now. My PSA in the last year as gone from 5.14 jan2023 to 6.01to now November 7.01for me it's working that it's gone up that much,, but my nurse said she's not worried by this. I have a MRI next month then see my consultant in January
Hi Denon
Dont worry about it to much my psa was 3761 in May 23
now 2.2 it was 2.5 last month. Different things can raise psa naturally I did bicep curls before I went last month.
Since then I found out don’t do any exercises before your psa test as it can raise it up.So next time I did nothing before it and it dropped back down
You do worry though it’s only natural.
Stick in you will be alright.
Hi
Because it was that high and advanced they fired two hormone injections into me straight away it was discovered when I was in hospital for something else.Got it down to 5.1 on the injections only this was 3 months after diagnosis. Then my consultant put me on Arbiraterone I have had no so effects except for the usual hot sweats and tiredness now and again these are from the injections not the tablets.
Thanks
Armie
I can understand why you’re concerned. My husband had initial readings of around 3.7 (I think) which triggered things as he is in his early 50s. After MRI, then biopsy the urologist said he could have active surveillance and they would do more investigations if it went above 4, so not much movement.
As his Gleeson is 3+4 In the end he decided he couldn’t deal with waiting for blood results every three months and is due to have a RALP next Thursday.
I think it depends how old you are, and your Gleeson score etc.
Hello Denon and a warm welcome to the online Community.
As others have said PSA is an indicator - and shows that Caner is active but not too active at the moment. It's only an indicator so your Consultant is taking the correct action by having a look with an MRI scan.
From this he/she will have a better understanding of any cancer/spread and will then decide if any further action is required.
As it's normally a slow growing cancer, put it to the back of your mind, have your MRI scan, enjoy Christmas and The New year and see what the results are.
Keep us posted with the results.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Denon
I wouldn't be too concerned about that PSA figure. Mine went up from about 4 to 12 between 2013 and 2017 when treatment started
The most important item to look at is your next MRI because that should show how much the tumour has grown if indeed it has.
So when u get the result make a note of the size in mm and also the previous one , to compare
good luck
Steve
