Hello. We joined the PC 'club ' in March with a diagnosis of a T3b N1 M1 , psa 170. Gleason of 4+5 ..9
Hubby has just finished the last of his course of 6 chemotherapy and has been doing OK in the most part. He has worked still through most of his treatment and is doing better than I am .... The thing is, he swears that at the first visit to oncologist he was told he has 2 to 3years left. I had left the room to get a drink so didn't hear this. Am I being naive or completely clutching at straws and have I got it so wrong, as I thought it was not going to be that quick in losing him. This is making me ill.
Update.. hubby had a scan 3 weeks ago , 3 weeks after last chemo. Saw the oncologist on Thursday for results of treatment. Prostate was 8cm, now 4cm. Node is smaller, and no new bone spots. I asked the '2/3 year' question that hubby swears he was told on first visit and was both told ' you'll be around longer than that..' I made him listen properly this time to what was said!! Next plan, dental treatment that is needed, with a follow up blood test in 6 weeks as he has a bit of a number 2 problem and calcium level is a bit high. Both came out of the meeting so happy.
Update.. made him listen on Thursday and definitely had the wrong info.
Much better news for you both, I am so pleased for you .
Was definitely going to hit him with the 'wrong stick' this time if he didn't listen properly!! I asked more questions than him and had a really good chat afterwards to make sure we both heard the same info.
What excellent news! thought it was a bit extreme before. Celebration time!!
Lx
Definitely... thanks. Just thought I'd let you all know the good news.
Hello Gardening lady - Well that's good news - as Shar said - much better news.
He's doing well and with your continued support (get him an hearing aid!!!) he's sailing through his treatment.
