My husband is starting chemo soon, but hospital advice on what we can do has varied. What are others' experiences? Did you stop doing things a couple of weeks before to make sure you were ok for treatment? And how strict during treatment? I volunteer in schools, for instance - should I stop? And what about seeing friends and relatives? Obviously crowded places are a no-no, but what about a cafe?
Any advice very much welcomed. Dr suggested we took ourselves back to COVID rules May 2020, which seems rather grim.
Just a quick one with my "Community Champions" hat on. there is another forum available to you all. Chemotherapy forum which may be of help.

So confusing . We asked the oncologist and another doctor in the department and both said fine to have covid and flu jab but to have it a few days before the next chemo session and they will do a blood test a few days prior to check bloods
We asked our oncologist about the need for antivirals if my husband caught covid. He said they were not needed. A day later my husband got a letter from the NHS saying that because of his treatment he was now entitled to free covid tests and antivirals!
covid is rearing it’s ugly head again right now. I have a daughter, son in law and granddaughter all stricken! There’s apparently a virus mutation circulating. So we mustn’t feel it’s gone away!
Yes asked about covid and flu together and that is when the doctor said he would do a blood test to check immune system. Hubbie never had previous problems with flu or COVID jabs. Now don't know what to do
Glad husband got home safely with no drunk symptoms x
