Hi husband had his regular 2 week blood checked and blood pressure whilst he on Aberiterone.and 3 monthly decepaptyl injections. His pressure readings have been a wee bit on the higher scale around 136. But today at his check it was 171 rechecked again after a while and was 159. She asked if he had a blood pressure monitor at home and was told to check twice a day for next few days and record readings. What do they do if this continues to be a problem would they take him off medication? Or give blood pressure tablets to lower it.? He has his specialist nurse review on the 1st so am sure she will advise accordingly. He starts his radiotherapy on Friday. Xx
Hi Skye,
My partners goes up and down and he checks his blood pressure everyday as that does seem to be another "side effect' from the Abiraterone/treatment. Worth buying a monitor. Could be a bit of stress maybe as he's going to have his Radiotherapy any minute. I always go sky-high when I'm going to the GP, and usually have to monitor mine for a week after, it literally goes right down as soon as I leave the GP's room. If you buy your own monitor and track it it will give you piece of mind as to where it's at.
Best wishes for the start of RT

Aww yeah I knew it can cause high blood pressure but thought it might be a case of being putting on blood pressure medication. I do have my own monitor so checked it last night and today and appears to be normal again so obviously a wee blip at the time. But was told to monitor it over next few days.
yes radio starts tomorrow. So next hurdle away to start hooefully not too much side effects.
I am sure I will be on over the next 4-6 weeks asking questions. Thanks to all for answers and advice I have been given since the start of our journey. Xx
Hi Skye
Hope the "sunbed" treatment goes well - beware of the fatigue, it sneaks up on you! I didn't get any diet instructions but the general advice was to avoid food and drink that can give you "wind".
Best wishes
Brian.

Anyone willing to share what blood pressure medicines worked while on Abiraterone? So far I've tried amlodepine and I did absolutely nothing. My primary care Dr. Isn't that up to seed on the abbi ADT blood pressure side affects. Thanks In advance
My husband is one year on in aberiterone and keeps getting told his blood pressure is high but they don’t seem to be doing anything about it just keep monitoring so I presume it not abnormally high. So can’t advise on types of blood pressure medications sorry xc
