Hi all, I finished my radiotherapy last Friday and all went well, although I have just started suffering with stomach cramps and diarrhoea, I’ve also lost my appetite and don’t feel good, any advice?
Hello Pete, sorry to hear about your difficulties. I am just wondering if you are sticking to the diet you should have been given ie low fibre, cutting out fizzy drinks etc? My husband had bloating throughout the radiotherapy and was also advised to cut out lactose and gluten. He reintroduced everything slowly afterwards. We were told that the affects of the radiotherapy can develop or continue for 6-8 weeks after the treatment has finished. If things are really bad, I would recommend getting in touch with your oncology department or GP because they might be able to give you medication to help the symptoms and better dietary advice than I have provided here.
i hope your symptoms subside soon and that you will be feeling better.
Hi Pete,
My partner has the same, he is now nearly at the end of his rt. It is a side effect of the treatment and it tends to build up as you go through the process. As WW says check your diet, but also it’s really important to drink lots of water to keep hydrated. You could ask about meds if it carries on.
