  • It is a horrible decision to have to make because there are so many ‘what ifs’ for you men. The fact that there are so many uncertainties in whatever decision you make means, for me, that a lot more research is needed in the treatment of prostate cancer. That said, I think  and hope that you might now have a sense of relief that you have come to a decision? I wish you all the very best through your surgery and recovery and hope all goes extremely well for you.

    1. I made the same decision 18 months ago . Since then , I’ve been great , travelled and done loads of long distance walking . I am a bad patient , I like to drink beer and coffee , only occasionally remember to do my pelvic floor exercises , so have ( very manageable )leaks sometimes. So don’t be like me . I have absolutely no regrets . Bill
  • Hi Mustardo, I had Gleason 7(4+3) PSA 18, was told it was contained in the prostate gland, bone scan ok, I had surgery in September 2021, was a success, ( we can swap catheter jokes later) after surgery I was ok with the water works, plenty of pelvic exercises!! After the surgery I had blood tests every 3 months, unfortunately my PSA started off at 0.02 and gradually over time went up to 0.18, I have been on hormone therapy and I am having radiotherapy now I finish next Friday, I have 1 more hormone injection in July then it’s back to the blood tests, everything has gone well, radiotherapy and hormones have a few side effects but it’s looking like I’m on a winner, it’s definitely not an easy decision to make but I would definitely do the same again, any questions or advice or just a chat don’t hesitate to contact me, good luck, regards Pete xxx
