Fatigue

Hi all.  I would just like to ask how the OHs cope with their oh's fatigue.  Mine has started on Enzalutamide and it seems every time he sits down he sleeps. He tries to keep a bit busy by going to golf 3 times a week, very early in the morning but seems to spend the rest of the day dozing.  We are 2 years into our Prostate cancer journey and we already know that it is incurable, (metastatic carcinoma of the prostate, T3b, N1, M1b, Gleason 4+5, grade group 5.)   I'm trying to stay positive but if after only 2 rounds of Enzalutamide he is this sleepy, I can only see it getting worse.  He is also waiting for a TURP operation but hasn't heard anything from the hospital.

    1. Hi Jane. I will get this right in a minute. I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer on 21st Dec 22 I was put on bicalutamide  and 3 monthly hormone injections. For some reason they decided to take me off bicalutamide and put me on enzalutamide. It has wiped me out. Fatigue  lack of awareness. Brain fog. They have now taken me off this drug for 3 weeks with a view to putting me on darolutamide. There are other options
  • Hi,  I am sorry, it sounds like you are going through it like my OH, he is also having 3 monthly hormone injections.

  • We have 50 acres  and 150 sheep  and 4 horses and there is just my wife and I. There is a lot of work. I wake up feeling great at 6.30 am and get up. Do my jobs and have some chocolate and go for a nap for 1 to 2 hours at 2pm get up at 4 and  sit down at tv with a glass of wine and watch the chase  and then have dinner. Bed at 9pm .its the new norm

  • No wonder you're exhausted.  That's enough to tire you out before medication.     For some reason, he won't go to bed, falls asleep in the chair for a couple of hours then goes to bed.

  • We have to adjust to the nee norm. For me sleeping all the time is not an option. Try experimenting and get ideas from the other posts on all the forums. When I have done my jobs in the morning I have a hot shower and then have lunch. Normally honey and yogurt. Then I do some paperwork and make some phone calls all this seems to give me temporary boosts of energy. I now try to avoid actually sleeping during the day so that I sleep well at night

I have a fitbit watch which records my vital signs and let's me know how many steps I do a day. I can record my water intake 2 litres a day helps

I compete with my wife over the steps I do. I try and aim for 12000
