Well, I start my radiation on Thursday. I do hope those radiation gunners aim well! Thanks to all you guys who have supported me with words of encouragement so far. I do have one question can anyone who has had RT recall what quantity of water you had to drink before each session?

On a different topic, I am a very different man than I was a year ago. Setting sexual matters to one side, I find that my mind gets a little fuzzy on occasion but more noticeable is the fatigue that sets in, as an almost daily occurrence. Is this a reaction to the Zoladex?

Well I have gone through two days of radiation. Hopefully all went well. I have adopted an approach which is rise at 0600 and walk for 45 to 60 minutes, then a small bowl of porridge with tinned mandarins. A shower, a shave a xxxx and a shoe shine. So far I have successfully managed to defecate unaided. I then drink 600ml of water precisely one hour before the treatment. It seems to work.

  • Steve - Captain Birdseye's finest cod with tomato ketchup of course. According to Mr Google brown sauce is called brown sauce - because it is!!

  • Didn’t get a prescription, my doctor questioned it and sent it back to my urologist, I’ve just called them again but no answer

  • Thanks Pete - Keep me posted as to what you get.

    Cheers - Brian.

  • Thanks for that Stuart. I am pleased you mentioned booze as I crave red wine these days. I have also stopped drinking coffee, which for me is a tough one.

  • Rens, you could always try Caffeine-free Coffee.  I did while I was on my Radiation.  Didn't suffer.

  • Beautiful sir! I shall do so

  • Yes, another warning, on my 20 fractions of radiotherapy I saw gentlemen refused treatment as they either had wind (told to go for a half hour walk) or had thought they could get away without the emema (sent to the little boys room with one in their hand and told to get on with it!!).

I was a good boy and all 20 went ahead but I had read the advice on here and followed the instructions and found it a piece of cake!!

  • Hi Rens

I will also add the diet isn't just no alcohol or caffeine eg no green veg, nothing high fibre etc. In fact pretty much anything 'healthy' is forbidden! Ask for the diet sheet to be sure!

    Regards

  • Brian, does that mean they were full of s***?

My first enema was a dud, but they never said anything.

  • I assume so - I think they like to have a clear view of the old prostate and don't take kindly to people ignoring their preparation instructions.

    In a word -YES.
