Well, I start my radiation on Thursday. I do hope those radiation gunners aim well! Thanks to all you guys who have supported me with words of encouragement so far. I do have one question can anyone who has had RT recall what quantity of water you had to drink before each session?
On a different topic, I am a very different man than I was a year ago. Setting sexual matters to one side, I find that my mind gets a little fuzzy on occasion but more noticeable is the fatigue that sets in, as an almost daily occurrence. Is this a reaction to the Zoladex?
Well I have gone through two days of radiation. Hopefully all went well. I have adopted an approach which is rise at 0600 and walk for 45 to 60 minutes, then a small bowl of porridge with tinned mandarins. A shower, a shave a xxxx and a shoe shine. So far I have successfully managed to defecate unaided. I then drink 600ml of water precisely one hour before the treatment. It seems to work.
Hi Rens
Entered hospital on 24 December 2021, formal diagnosis in January 2022 and because of the position of the prostate/urethra I had an indwelling catheter from December 2021 to 5 November 2022 when I had the TURP operation. RT started January 2023 once the catheter was out.
You can read my full journey by clicking on the picture of the beach - and it's been a journey, not as bad as some though.
Best Wishes - Brian.

I was given a small card with times and amount on it. That says 1. 30 minutes before appointment empty bladder and if needed empty bowels. 2. Drink 500 ml water in 10 minutes ( Unless another amount has been specified) 3. Wait for 20 minutes ( To ensure you have a full comfortable bladder for your treatment time to minimise side effects).I was given that when I went for the initial appointment to get the tattoos.
Hope that is of some help.
I had my treatment finishing in march 2019 and have just been told the hospital considers my cancer dealt with..
So good luck with your treatment and I hope you have a good outcome. Kind regards Reg
Brian, I never knew your nipples weren't fine. I can't remember any problems with mine. That said, I can't remember what I had for dinner last night!
Rens, Your Radiation sessions will just fly over. After the first one, you will know what to expect. It does get harder to keep the water in, by the last week.
Nothing else gets harder!

Flippin heck Steve, no my nipples are fine - it's me hot flushes and night sweats I need help with!!
(I had fish finger butties on milk roll and chips for tea last night!!)

Hi Rens
One other thing. Get hold of the diet sheet from the radiotherapy team and stick to it rigidly. Don't listen to the siren voices in the waiting area that you can drink alcohol - you most definitely can't! It's so important you follow the diet. Ignoring it was the only tome I had any problems.
Regards
Stuart
Brian, Fish Finger butties sounds amazing. It's donkey's years since I had those. But the question on everyones' lips is "Battered" or "Breadcrumbs"??? Then it's Tomato ketchup or Brown Sauce???
Go on, one more question, Why is Brown sauce called "Brown Sauce"? Has it not got a flavour?
