Hi you lovely people
I hope you’re all coping as well as possible , and sending you gentle hugs
I wanted to ask if anyone with bone mets, like my husband has been given any decent pain relief apart from Morphine?
He gets really bad pain and I’m concerned that he is missing out on some other pain relief
Misty x
Hello Mistymoon1,
I have bone mets and I am currently on two 50mg Tramadol capsules 4 x daily. They are working for me at the moment but I know that some people are unable to take them for various reasons. I suppose that`s the same for all medication though. What`s good for me might not be good for some other folk. Hope your husband finds pain relief shortly as I know how debilitating it can be.
Take care, Tom
Hi Misty
I’ve had bone mets for years, pain meds include co codormol, tramadol ( not my favourite) and liquid paracetamol with codeine, I did go to a acupuncturist for about four months, this did help. Depending where his pain is, in my case back was the worst, I got a back brace ( medically proved ) this helps with movement.
There are other pain killers, only the doctor can tell you which is best.
Stay safe

Hello Misty, soory to hear your husband is in so much pain. Has Radiotherapy ever been suggested by your husband's Oncologist for pain. Since I was diagnosed I have had R. T. to the iliacc bone on 2 occassions and a third is upcoming in 2 weeks as pain has been bad.
Best wishes, Graham.
Hi Boro G
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, hubby has had 19 sessions of RT but seems to have more pain since his bone mets have increased.
Oncologists…. One gave him option of Acalbutimide? Not sure that’s right spelling … A luteinising hormone to go alongside his HT injections. His PSA was down to 0.09 but has risen to 4.1 and as his cancer is classed as aggressive the other oncologist suggested Chemo.
between a rock and a hard place at the moment until we see oncologist at end of March
I hope you stay well x
Hi, I’m new to bone mets - an unwelcome intruder into our lives!
I have it in my ribs, sacrum and upper spine. Luckily had no great issues but just starting with bl**dy awful lower back pain. Trying to avoid anymore drugs as I think I’m taking enough stuff - enzalutamide and Decapeptyl implant, Acreet D3 plus bp tablets, statins etc. I can just about put my own socks on.
Good luck and love to everyone I’m my situation. Cancer spoils everything xx
