We had a call from the specialists nurse this morning. Biopsy result is Gleason Score 3+4=7 and a bone scan has been requested Grade will not be confirmed until bone scan result.
Surgery is not an option which we knew already. So decision is taken out of our hands.
Once result of bone scan is in he will start hormone therapy with injections every 3 months followed by radiotherapy. I think that is really about the best result we could have hoped for.
Thanks everyone for their support. Kind regards Robina
Hi Robina
Well that's just where I was in January 2022. The Gleason score is lower than mine and there are no other known issues. I have resolved my long term catheter issue, had my "plumbing" sorted with the TURP operation, completed my RT and apart from a couple of small issues life is great.
Take hope from me - the prognosis is good and the treatment and recovery should be quicker than mine.
If you want to ask me anything fee free either on here in public or you can private message me.
Hope all goes will - Kind Regards - Brian.

Hi Daniel
you are right the wait is the worst part. It’s almost a relief now that the result is in. Advice from this forum really helped me to keep calm once the initial shock of the MRI was over. The good thing is my husband takes everything in his stride. I hope I can deal with the hot flushes!
I hope all goes well for your results
take care Robina
Hi Daniel. I completely understand how awful the waiting is. My husband had his biopsy on 13th December and we had to wait until early Jan for the results. Christmas and new year were certainly pretty anxious this time!. What I would suggest is to take someone with you as it's quite hard to remember everything that is said. Also write down any questions beforehand so you don't forget to ask. We are now off to get the results of his bone scan tomorrow and to hopefully discuss the proposed surgery.
Best wishes for good results for you.
Hi Robina. This is the same result my husband had after his biopsy .He was also told the cancer was a grade.2.at this meeting. We are now off to get the results from his bone scan tomorrow and hopefully to discuss the proposed surgery if all is ok. The waiting is as horrible as ever, but I agree with you that in many ways it is better once you know what you're dealing with and have a treatment plan in place.
Wishing you both all the best going forward.
Hi Woolly. Thanks for the message and the advice. My list of questions gets longer everyday!
Initially my results will be over the phone but I’ll definitely be taking someone with me when I meet the consultant.
At this stage I’ve assumed all treatments are open to me, so I’ve been busy doing loads of research. I’ve decided to go for surgery if it’s an option.
Saw some papers today on bladder neck sparring also urethral length sparing, so lining up plenty of questions for the surgeon.
Hope the bone scan results are good tomorrow, and
best wishes for successful surgery. I’d definitely be interested in how it goes.
Very best wishes to you both.
Daniel.
