Hello, My partner received his PSA today of 115. and a phone call from the doctor saying there is a possibility of prostrate cancer. We are waiting now for the next phone call /appointment which should be soon.  Clearly this is a very high PSA and I have spent the day researching.

Please is there anyone that can reassure me that they have also have had a similar PSA and are now having treatment that seems to be keeping things under control? Also can you outline for me what the next things are to expect. I'm guessing the MRI and then a Gleason grading. Then what? Is there any advantages to going private over NHS? Any information is highly valuable to me. Many thanks in advance

  • Hi Steve, The MRI says that the cancer has gone through to the capsule and the Seminal vesicles. But it looks like the lymph glands are ok? now waiting for the CT scan results for more information . Bone scan Monday and Biopsy next Saturday. I'm now becoming very knowledgeable about the situation. I guess we will know the full extent and treatment plan in a couple of weeks now.

  • Hi Barry

Ok, so broken thru but hopefully no where else apart from seminal vesicles.

Still potentially curable, hopefully bone scan will be clear.

One thing that I 'm not sure about, if in seminal vesicles which is best treatment, surgery or RT, could be worth exploring pros and cons.

    Best wishes

  • Yes, hopefully thats as far as it's gone. The nurse was saying that it will probably be RT and hormone treatment, I'm thinking get a second opinion privately when all results are through as nothing will be lost by investigating and confirming options.

  • Yes, I had a second opinion privately, for £250 worth it, another specialist opinion
