Hi Everyone,

was diagnosed on the 24th of September & told i have two options...Radical Prostrate removal or radiotherapy. I have been given no information! No scores or stages, nothing. I got a phone call today to say i was booked in for the surgery next week. apparently the Consultant who gave me the news booked me in. I want to make an informed decision, but am getting frustrated as can't seem to talk to any one. Advice please, would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi KT

I think u need more info.

PSA, Gleeson, staging, to find out what's going on before agreeing to a major surgery. How did the diagnosis come about.

The more info u can give the better our advice can be

Hi Steve,we have NO inforfation at all! No gleeson score, stage etc. i've phoned the hospital twice & the first time they said the paperwork was in the post & today they put me through to Cancer nurses, but it was an answering service! I have an Urology Procedure  appt booked for the 14th & i don't know what this is for either. The only thing i can work out from some results on my biopsy is that it is T2 & presents on the outside of the prostrate.

Diagnosis was because i was having the classic symptoms. Have had MRI,Biopsy & bone scan

  • If you've had a biopsy you should have a Gleeson score, also u must have had a couple of PSA Tests by now.

If it's T2 then cancer should be confined to the gland.

Wait until the 14th and get as much info as you can then unless u can contact them before.

Not sure what the urology procedure might be unless it's the surgery, would be good to find out

    Thank you Steve

  • Your GP should have been copied on all the test results. If you can't get them from the Urology/Oncology staff then ring the GP and insist on at least a telephone conversation with a doctor.
