Hi all, second post from me but this time my husband is keen to hear from others in a similar situation.
briefly, he was diagnosed at the end of May with stage 4, Gleason 9, spread to pelvic wall and multiple lymph nodes. the oncologist said prognosis 18-24 months but if treatment works then maybe 4 years. My husband is finding this prognosis so difficult to comes to terms with. I have tried to reassure him that this may not be the case as I have read on here of lots in a similar situation that have surpassed this time.
We are still in complete shock and my husband still feels really angry as he had been back and forth to see the GP for a couple of years with, what we know now, many symptoms of prostate cancer and maybe if he hears about guys in a similar situation then it may help.
thank you all x
Hi Jnc and Maxxy, I was diagnosed earlier this year with Gleason 5+4=9, T2 M0 M1. Mets to rib and pelvis. I am 50 years old. I am on 3 monthly prostap and 6 weeks ago finished a 6 cycle course of Docetaxel chemo. In that time my PSA dropped from 16 to below 1. I have just had a psma pet ct scan to see what effect the treatment has had and will get results next week. Regarding the chemo I tolerated it very well with very few side effects. I did not miss a day of work apart from days I had chemo and thankfully side effects were limited apart from some minor neuropathy, fatigue, brain fog and some pain. I have been careful with diet, hydration, exercise etc. You can see my profile for more info. I will endeavour to report back on results next week to let you know if it has worked. Next treatment is supposed to be radiotherapy. For how long, to where etc will be determined by the scan results. Best of luck. Andrey
Sounds like your on the treatment path I've been offered.
It's good to have open conversation about these realities.
There's only a few things on offer really.
HT is the base.
Chemo, radio, medication tablets.
Homeopathic stuffs, faith/placebo, diet, exercise.
Hello JNC, I was diagnosed march 2021 with stage 4 metastatic PC with spreads to spine and pelvis at 38yeara of age. My PSA has been undetectable for 13 months after intially being told I had 6 months to live. Have a read of my profile for treatment plan and full story. Tell your husband to keep his head up, stay in the present day and enjoy the day. I spent many months angry at various professionals for what I was being told and that anger nearly consumed me. There's nothing positive that can come from them feelings and I lost many days which I could of enjoyed spending quality time with my family. Take care x
Regards
Paul
