I know it probably isn't but does having Prostate Cancer make you more vulnerable to other cancers?

My family history on my father's side, nearly all of his family for a couple of generations has had or has died of Cancer.  Bowel Cancer being the most common.

I have yet another Colonoscopy next week, every 3 years now.  This one is 10 months late because of the Radiation treatment last October and November.

To say that I am anxious is an understatement, not panicking or anything, just a bit anxious.

  • Does anybody know???

  • Hi Steve

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to that, maybe an expert.  All of us in remission from PC obviously fear it may return but I don't think it makes u more vulnerable to other cancers unless the original cancer is lurking around somewhere, still.  Hopefully not because you may have altered your diet, be doing more exercise to help keep other cancers at bay.

Best thing is, try not to think about it too much, you're in remission, long may it stay that way.

    all the best

  • Thanks Grundo,

It's just niggling away in my head.  Probably nothing to worry about.

  • I know , just another thing to worry about but then cancers can happen to anyone at any time , however healthy you are, so there's no point in dwelling on it,

I presume that your colonoscopy is due to your family history and not because of any issues, if so it's good that they're keeping an eye on you.

  • Steve,

It's the family history thing, every 3 years.  The worst part is taking the solutions the day before, so much time on the loo... neverending...

The rest is just a pain in the bum.
