Unable to have any form of Treatment for Prostate Cancer

Hello

Have posted a couple of times here but wanted to add the latest twist to my prostate Cancer Diagnosis last December to see if anyone can relate to it..

I had the 240ml Injections of Degarelix last January which as I have Liver Cirrhosis was the only Treatment option given - However I began to feel Poorly and my LFTs went through the roof particularly the Gamma GT which climbed 250 points (less than 20 is considered Good for a non drinker) so I was given the choice to stop and let the Cancer spread freely or continue and have Life Threatening Bleeds from Liver/Stomach and Esophageal Varicous Veins - so after discussion I stopped the Maintenance Dose and was told by Urology that they didn't do "Palliative Care but would check how I was in 3 months".

They also couldn't give me any Prognosis or Length of Time to Live - I wanted to arrange a Holiday but have no idea what my Health will be like in the Future and there is the thought of Health Insurance.

Has anyone here also been unable to receive Hormone Therapy or Radiotherapy because of "Collateral Damage" who can help me understand how the Cancer progresses untreated - I really wanted to live long enough to receive an Apology from my Hospital Trust/Radiographer/Urology Dept. as they missed my Abnormal prostate and Enlarged Lymph Nodes last Summer on a CTScan whilst also sending a Young Inexperienced Doctor to do a Physical Examination which he declared as "Normal Fine Nothing there" things that were Highlighted 5 Months later during my Diagnosis.

I feel totally alone living hundreds of miles away from my Brother and across the Pond from my American ex-wives.

God so sorry to read this. Its heartbreaking for you. I so hope u complained about your treatment. And they surely must or get you in touch with the right department to care for u and see you through all this. They carnt just abandon you. Find an oncologist that you can talk to and so hope you get better care that u need and deserve x

  • Hi Colin. You say that you are unable to have radiotherapy because of collateral damage, but is brachytherapy not an option worth considering?
