  1. Hi all, my husband is experiencing pain before he pees, pads are still wet, so everything is working, but he suddenly feels the urge to pee, which in turn causes pain, then there’s nothing but a dribble, which he almost has to force. I realise everything is still healing, but is this the ‘norm’? RP with lymph node dissection would be two weeks tomorrow. TIA
  • Hi . I am not from this group, so don't know much about PC. I am from the bladder group where we have experience of catheters. We know catheters can cause infections, so it may be an idea to drop off a pee sample at your local surgery for testing, just as a precaution. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • I’m nearly three weeks post catheter removal and have had various issues, all of which I am assured are quite normal. In no particular order I’ve had;

    1. Quite a bad burning sensation, primarily towards the end of urination and worse in the morning.

    2. A desperate need to pee followed by a burning dribble - only occasionally.

    3. Passing blood, generally at the beginning of urination.

    4. Passing debris and large blood clots. The worst has actually stopped me mid-flow, and can best be described as like a worm!

    I have spoken to my medical team and all of the above are quite normal. Many men suffer some, none or all of them. There are doubtless other issues.

    Best advice I can give is for your husband to drink plenty of water to keep his system flushed out. I’m getting through at least 2 litres a day. If he has concerns then his nursing team will be happy to advise him.

    I’m thankfully much better when going to the loo now but, for at least a couple of weeks after the catheter came out, each visit was a new experience as I didn’t know what I was going to get.

    I wish you both well - things will get better.

  • Thank you HH, that’s reassuring, every day brings something different, doesn’t it?! I think I’ve read so much, to prep us for post surgery issues, that my brain has imploded, and I can’t remember anything now. Disappointed
