HI all,

Just been diagnosed with Gleason score 3+5 = 8.  PSA 38.  T3b N1 M1a.   Bone scan clear, but it's gone metastatic a little to the nearby lymph nodes and also with nodules on the edge of the bowel.  Prostatectomy doesn't seem to be an option at present, as it won't capture the outliers.

Current plan seems to be Hormone Therapy with Leuprorelin, followed in about 4 weeks time with an upgrade to Abiraterone.  Radiation therapy is also going to figure prominently in my future.

I'd appreciate any general advice.

Best regards

Seadog

  • When it comes to RT the best advice I can give is to make sure you follow the instructions of the radiologists to the letter, especially with regard to diet and drinking the water. It's important to have a full bladder when your treatment time comes but not to be wriggling on the table because you're bursting for a pee!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.

  • Hi

I can't over emphasise adhering to the diet sheet they give you. I didn't and had a couple of glasses of wine and sprouts for Christmas Dinner- not funny!

  • Hi seadog, my diagnosis is T3,N1,M1b, Gleason 9, I'm on Enzlutamide and Decapepty injection. Just finished my radiotherapy, I had no problems or side effects with it, I hope everything goes well for you with your treatment.

    Thanks Ulls,

Good to know there are chances, however slight, of running through this without side effects.  Also interesting to note the drug alternatives. It’s not as if they sit you down and discuss the various drugs and their relative merits or disadvantages. Although in fairness, I do appreciate they are swamped under right now, and time is a precious commodity.
