l am very fit and healthy apart from the cancer. I take no medication at all. I have had 3 cycles of chemo then a scan. I was told there is still too much disease residue on the outside of my liver and in my diaphragm to operate. I am having 3 more cycles of chemo with Avastin added. Then they will scan again but they think surgery is unlikely to be possible. I will continue with Avastin after chemo and have more chemo as necessary. This might keep me going for s year or two... Everyone else seems to have the operation - even if they are stage 4 cancer. Is anyone else in the situation of not having an operation?

  • Hi I had bowel cancer diagnosis 2yrd ago and now the blighter has spread to my neck and peritoneum. I too have no operation options but am on immunatheropy to hopefully keep it fenced in ,tho that'sBlusheen stopped for a while as it affected my adrenal gland function . It's scary , true but I'm doing my best to stay positive so I make the time to do something for me every day , a walk in the park, Blushtheatre visit ect None of us know what may happen in the future but we can make now fun Blush. Stay strong Big virtual hugs

  • Hi all

been a funny few months so I have rather gone to ground.

in terms of the operation then I had it about 6 months after being diagnosed. Mine is primary peritoneal cancer so was mainly in ,y tummy. However some round liver they couldn’t operate on. All went well but stitching up wasn’t too good and L had a few problems with burst stitching afterwards.

then avastin and then a period of no medication. Eventually I knew things weren’t right again so went back to finish off avastin and then onto rubicarb. Added complication is I am now diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and gall stones. Again a break from chemo so just back on at a lower dose. Fingers crossed am coping. Oh yes and my magnesium levels keep on dropping so need daily pills plus regular transfusions.

so about 5 years since I first felt ill and I am still here. Had some moments of despair but doctors keep me going. No talk of stages or life expectancy. They are experts at ducking questions like that.

so keep well and keep going.

  • Hi I think we all go to ground at some time just to regroup and gather ourselves . Your journey has been a tough one but I think.your strong . Take time for yourself that doesn't involve the beastie . It's hard I know I've just been away for a few days with my partner and another couple the lady has breast cancer . The . Rule was no mention of illness. Fatigue was an afternoon nap, no ' have you taken your meds ' ect It was amazing just to be . Stay strong sending hugs

  • Hi I'm doing pretty good , still on the immunatheropy after a break . It caused adrenal insufficiency that scared me but now I understand it it's ok ,so now take hydrocortisone 3 x daily and have the emergency jab kit in the fridge with the salad lol . Pain meds stay the same but pain levels are really not bad most of the time more niggles . I get fatigue and nausia but over all I think I'm pretty lucky . I walk every day even a short ones a mood lifter and audible books for nights I can't sleep . Looking forward to Christmas and staying annoyingly perky lol xxx

  • I am writing this 3 years after l initially posted this. After 12 cycles of chemo and 14 cycles of Avastin, l did finally have a complete and successful debulking op. Last year l developed a large tumour on each ovary and the surgeons agreed to remove them to make me more comfortable. However, it appeared that the chemo had been effective on the widely scattered small amounts of cancer in my abdomen and apart from the cancer, l was in very good health. I had 4 ops in one. Removal of tumours and hysterectomy, Resection of my bowel and a permanent stoma. Removal of my omentum. Removal of cancer module on my liver. That was last December. I had two more cycles of chemo and l have been on Niraparib since March. My last scan in July still showed no evidence of cancer so they have successfully extended my life. It is rare to have debulking 2 years down the line but l am proof that it can happen.

  • Aw… l am glad you are so positive. You are doing so well.

  • Hi there - Thank you so much for asking. l am still here 3 years later. I did eventually have a full successful debulking op! I was so lucky! Click on my name above to read my profile if you are interested. I hope you are doing well

  • Thank you for responding. I have found it hard to talk about my cancer but l am doing well at the moment. I did have the debulking op in the end! Click on my name to read my profile if you are interested. I hope you are doing well x
