Hi

I had been suffering for around 8 years with infections on my penis, my GP kept treating this with Canesten cream which had little effect. In January I was advised to have a Circumcision, a pea shaped lump was removed too and biopsies showed this was cancerous graded T3. Additional to this I have precancerous cells on the penis glands.

Treatment so far has been chemotherapy cream called 5% 5FU(Efudex) which only has a success rate of 60% and in my case did not work

Dynamic Sentinel inguinal lymph node biopsies at St George’s, 14 were taken and were all cancer free

last week I had glands resurfacing surgery and currently recovering from this

Hi MB88 welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear what has been happening for you and over such a long space of time. I'm sure it must feel like Cancer has come into your life and never left. I hope that you are on the mend from the latest surgery. Is this the last surgery or are there plans for further treatment for you? Best wishes for now Gail

  • Thanks for reaching out. I received my results this morning, and all the cancer has been removed with clear margins. Now, I’ll be having 3-month checks of my glands and lymph nodes.

My advice is, if you have any concerns, go see your GP. Don’t be put off by creams; insist on being referred. If this was treated years ago, it would have been a different story. I know men can be bashful about showing their penis to strangers, but seriously, don’t be.

  • Hi MBB,

Well done on getting through the operation and glad to hear all clear now, such a relief!

Did you have the lymph nodes and the resurfacing done at the same time?

    J

  • Hi. No I didn’t, my treatment was over 7 months. Circumcision in January, lymph nodes removal in April, further biopsies in May and resurfacing in July.  It’s worth mentioning that 2 weeks post surgery the glands appearance are back to normal as though surgery never happened.
