hi people  i am new to this group but a member in bladder cancer group and illeostomy group

i was diagnosed with penis cancer around 2 months ago  after having the camera confirm that i have a large tumour in my pipe i was booked into hospital 4 weeks ago to have the tumour removed i was being taken into theatre for my op when it was cancelled at the last minute as they realised it was on my notes that any general anasthetic must be a last resort for me  due tp previous operations  they want to do a biopsy then go go back again in a few weeks for removal of the tumour  now they want me to go to cardiolagy to get my heart checked out if that goes well they say they will remove the tumour and do the biopsy after removal that cuts the risk to one operation from two ops to 1 op  cutting the risk to me by 50 % now i feel very tired all the time little appetite etc  are they side effects of penile cancer ? financialy i am on my knees  gp cant advise me on all side efects etc as they say they are not clued up on all this stuff  i am at my wits end here with all this worry and doing my best not to slip into a dark place which i think i am heading towards any advice on all this would be more than welcome at this end TIA                                                                                                RAB

  • Hi Rab

Thanks for your honesty.  Sometimes taking advice is difficult but I appreciate that you don't want anyone to go through what you're experiencing at the moment.  Being still and not doing anything is challenging especially when you want to go places and do things.

I hope you are able to listen to your body and rest.  It can be a trying time.  However, as my consultant said " It won't be for ever, it's only for a season", I do hope he's right for me and you too.  Sleep is a good medicine and your body is good at repairing itself.  Hopefully, your appetite and energy levels will soon go back to what they were before.

Wishing you a full recovery and good deep rest,

    Look after yourself,

    1. Sorry to hear this.. Yes fatigue and low appetite can get you, its very tough on the body and mind.  Have you applied for PIP to help financially?
