HI All

Went in on Monday last for glansectomy and circumcision.  All seems to have gone well, and the team are pretty certain that 100% of cancer has been removed.  The biggest issue I have been facing since surgery is being unable to sleep, each time I get comfortable and start to drop of I get a 'twitch' or maybe spasm like sensation (almost like I am trying to pass large balls through my shaft) it's agonising for a few seconds and of course wakes me up.

It's getting to the stage where I am scared to let myself fall asleep and I'm exhausted, it's really starting to affect my mood.  I have spoken to the ward nurses and my surgical team and no one seems to understand what I mean.

I know I am only 6 days out of surgery and some things are to be expected but I'm so worried that no one seems to know what I mean.

Anyone else have any experience of this? Or any clue what I am talking about?

Thank you

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

Experiencing pain as you start to fall asleep must be extremely debilitating and I'm sorry to read that none of your medical team know how to help.

You could post your question in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to respond within 3 working days. If this is something you'd like to do then clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

It would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I hope you get this sorted soon and do come back and let us know how you get on.
