If you’re in the UK this documentary is on iPlayer. It follows a very brave man through penile cancer surgery, definitely not an easy watch if you’re squeamish but showed what was involved and why surgery can take such a long time, he was in theatre for 7 hours.

Also showed how good the urology surgeons are.

We are all different but the concerning part for me was that the patient’s cancer may return, having had sentinel node biopsy and being told the cancer hadn’t spread I am now just a bit anxious that the way ahead may not be so clear. Had a CT scan two weeks ago and have a follow up in June.

  • Hi

I am not a member of this community (I am female) but didn’t want your post to go unanswered. I did see the programme. It was a tough watch, as most of the surgeries shown in the series are. They are quite an eye opener on what is possible these days. I also picked up on the fact that his cancer had possibly spread. Unfortunately surgery isn’t the end of the journey for many of us - I found my cancer was metastatic after I had already had surgery.

I don’t know whether you are also suffering from penile cancer. You might like to put a little bit of information about your diagnosis into your profile so others in a similar situation can share their experiences. This isn’t a part of the site I have previously ventured into but I can see other people have posted about surgeries similar to those shown in the programme. Whatever you are going through I wish you all the best, and do reach out for support if you need it.
