Morning all,

A bit off topic, but as I am recovering well we have booked a holiday for Christmas and are heading away to somewhere warm, we also have another booked with family in March so was starting to look for travel insuance this morning.

On last years policy, I had me the Mrs and two kids on there for a years multitrip, excludes USA and all that. It came in around £115 for the year, which I thought was pretty good value.

So this year its just me and the Mrs, multitrip, adding in a cruise, no kids, plus my completed cancer treatment.

I have to say a bit of a shock.........

The following just refused to provide cover:

Just no:

  1. comparethe market
  2. Moneysupermarket. com
  3. Allclear
  4. Insurancewith
  5. freedom travel insurance
  6. post office
  7. Leisurecare.co.uk
  8. MIA
  9. world first
  10. Just travel cover
  11. medical travel compared .co .uk
  12. Urban jungle
  13. Aviva
  14. Uswitch
  15. Saga
  16. Our travel insurance
  17. Voyager

I did get some quotes though and this is what they came in at:

  • Avanti (never heard of them before) £1141
  • Staysure £1080
  • Total Travel Protection £ 557
  • Confused.com using loveitcoverit £291-£388
  • Gocompare were the same as Confused.com

Will probably go with loveitcoverit through Confused or Gocompare, unless anyone has any good suggestions?

Regards

J

  • Oh and my email box is now spammed with all those who also declined to quote , offering me insurance quotes?

  • Hi

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and having had cancer twice, I know how tricky getting travel insurance can be.

As you know the online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the travel insurance group where you'll find lots of recommendations for travel insurers to try.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined have a look through the threads there called 'Recommended Travel Insurance' and Recommended travel insurance 2023-24', which you'll find on the first page. They are full of recommendations from other cancer patients who have got travel insurance.

I have used payingtoomuch.com and goodtogoinsurance.com in the past, for me and my husband, after I'd had treatment for two different cancers.

  • Lucky to get a quote..I found most would not touch me. I now have world travel insurance through my bank for £22 per month which only excludes conditions that I have treatment for in the last 6 months. I also get other perks for the account but this alone makes it worth while. Currently enroute  to Thailand.

    1. I had same problem last year for holiday with the wife, I just googled travel insurance for cancer,  and found one on there, ended up paying about £700 for 2 week holiday, so sounds like a reasonable price from loveitcoverit. Will have to try them for my next holiday. Hope you get good price and good holidays.
