Hi all,
I had a glansectomy with skin graft and some lymph nodes removed from both groins, this was about 3 weeks ago.
I had a follow up consultation last week to check on progress and also got the results of the biopsy, and I have to say it was a bit of a sh*t sandwich.....
The tumour was removed and there was "clear margins" around this, which was good according to the consultant and means they took enough of the area around the tumour to ensure that the cancer was removed.
Bad news was that there was traces of cancer cell spread into the left groin, so all lymph nodes need to be removed from this groin, which means a further operation.
The other good news was that the CT scan from the earlier this month showed that other than the lymph nodes in the groin, the cancer had not spread else where at this point. So once the lymph nodes have been removed, should be all good, but obviously subject to regular follow up testing.
Then this morning I got a call to say I can go in on the first week of August for the lymph node removal, I have to say, its a really quick turn around time, I am so impressed with the NHS and their ability to respond so far.
Regards
J

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
I'm sure others who have had to have their lymph nodes removed will be along soon to share their experiences with you.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. Hi jc54
It sounds like you had same as me with 1st operation, I had 1 lymph node from each side removed to be checked, mine came back same left side had cancer, right side was clear, had my 2nd operation to remove all lymph nodes from left side approx 2 months after 1st operation, they all came back clear, which was a relief, did find the recovery was not as easy with this as for the 1st operation. Had a drain in for couple of weeks which kept coming loose, so had to keep going back to the hospital to have it sorted. The one thing I know is it was better than letting the cancer spread. Hope everything goes well for you and if you need any advice as always just ask on here.
William
