Hi
Sorry to hear that you are in this situation and I feel for you. I had a Glans resurfacing last year and like you I was really worried about the whole procedure including needles. I am 63 and have never been in an Operating Theatre in my life!
Please be assured that there is absolutely nothing to worry about with regard to needles and General Anesthetic. When I went into Theatre I didn't even know that they had put the canular in my hand and I was talking to them quite calmly before I went out.I cannot thanks the guys enough for how they looked after me .
I would agree with the above.. I was absolutely bricking it on way to theatre for my penectomy but the best advise I can give you is to tell them exactly how you feel. Once they know they go out of there way to put you at ease.. Even allowed my wife in to the anesthetic room.. I doubt they would do this now though.. They also gave me a bit of juice to make me chilled.. This really worked as I then started chatting up the anesthetist saying she had lovely eyes! My wife stood next to her.. Try not to worry about the needles honestly most of the time you don't even feel them.. Good luck, hope all goes well
