Hello Everyone,
I'm a 53 year old male.
At the end of 2025 I started with painless obstructive jaundice. I needed an initial ERCP to fit a metal stent to ease a blockage at the Ampullary of Vater. Due to the stenting and inconclusive CT scans my biopsies were non-diagnostic. We tried a final ERCP to go in and remove the stent, try for better biopsy and then replace the stent. This confirmed the presence of an invasive adenocarcinoma. At the end of January 2026 I had Whipple surgery. My recovery was going great until i developed a Fistula related to the gastrojejunostomy. This resulted in a extra 4 weeks in hospital on TPN. I was able to return home to continue my recovery on the 9th March. Due to my extended stay on the ward I was able to discuss my Histology results from the operation with my consultant. He explained that out of 26 Lymph nodes examined, 2 were positive for cancer.
I am starting an initial cycle of chemotherapy (FOLFIRINOX) next week. My base line CT scan showed no obvious spread or new cancer that helped with my anxiety as the next phase of my cancer journey starts..........
Hickman line fitted yesterday and my first bloods are done........Let's Go!!!!!
Hi Bobdazler and welcome to the community. I am not from this group so can't really contribute much. I did notice your post was slipping by without reply so by me giving it a bump, it will highlight it again and hopefully get the attention of someone who can offer some support and help. Best wishes.
Hi Bobdazler
My name is Dylan and I’m part of the Online Community team here at Macmillan.
Thank you for taking the time to share some of your story here. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot in a short space of time. It’s good to hear your baseline scan has helped ease some of that anxiety as you move into this next stage.
How are you getting on this week?
If you feel up to it, you might also find it helpful to post in the Chemotherapy forum, where more members may see your post and have the chance to reply.
If you’d find it helpful to talk things through with someone, you’re also very welcome to contact the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 (8am–8pm, 7 days a week).
Hopefully a few more members will spot your post and connect with you soon.
