HI, Im a newbie here. My wonderful mum has recently had stage 4 pancreatuc diagnosed with several metastases. She was also diagnosed at the same time with another primary cancer in her kidney. All very sudden and a total shock. She was going to start treatment but she has terrible nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea and medicine not really helping despite being changed several times. She so bad that she's now saying she cant face chemo as she's scared the side effects will make her symptoms worse. I'm so concerned about her nausea as her quality of life has gone in just a few weeks. She dosenr want to leave the house, her appetite has gone and she has no energy at all. Support from drs and hospice has been amazing but I'm just so frustrated that they can't seem to get on top of her symptoms. My gran died from pancreatic cancer and her symptoms where complete different and she was very comfortable dor most of her journey. I guess everyone is different. Mum is being so brave but I fear she os starting to give up.
Hi Tbird78 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
I do hope that your mum's hospital team can get her nausea under control as it must be very unpleasant for her. Macmillan has this information on nausea and vomiting, including a section on managing it, which you might find helpful.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Sorry to hear about your mum. My mum also stage 4 was due to start chemo last Friday ended up in hospital with a potential blockage so sadly chemo was not an option absolutely devastated she’s only 56!.
Take care x
Dear Positive Vibe!
your comment stuck out to me - I’m so sorry your mum cannot have chemo, it is so unfair! We have a similar situation I would imagine as my wonderful mum is 54 so I would Quess we are maybe a similar age ? I am 35.
I am so sorry you’re going through this and your mum is suffering!
regards
Charlotte
My world has been turned upside down, last Tuesday mum passed out turns out she had a clot in her lung. We are currently in a hospice a week later mum still strong she it so strong giving keeps giving us a row for getting upset.

i hope your mum is doing ok and you as I know how hard this is.
Hi , i really feel for you and the family as well as your mum obviously , yes treatment is different for everyone as chemo is freshly made for each individual on the day different % so i am just gusing they can reduce the percentage of part of it im not medically trained just a guess. And there is tablets for nausea and vomiting so hang in there there are things they can try ,there are great
