Just wanted to say,’Hi’. We have been fighting this awful disease for 2 1/2 years.Discovered purely by chance, my partner had no symptoms of this, rather colon cancer symptoms.GP fobbed us off because of Covid in 2020 and diagnosed Type 2 diabetes… although some blood values were very disturbing.Anyway, I battled in 2021 and the colonoscopy showed 6 benign polyps but a large, very large shadow ( localised) on the pancreas through CT.We managed to get to the specialist cancer hospital quickly.6 months chemo, 1 month chemo and radio, finally in March 2022 cleared for Whipples.Surgery was end April, 22.Excellent recovery, followed by 6 month chemo to be sure.Clear in December, quarterly check started in April, slightly elevated tumour markers in the blood test, but told it’s probably nothing… but Pet, then CT scan, MRI.It’s back and spread to the liver…3 small lesions on the liver. We found out Monday… chemo is the only offered solution and we would hear very quickly regarding appointments starting next week .We are investigating other remedies. But the radio silence and inability to contact the team/ lack of response is causing my partner so much stress. This is not what we experienced the past 2 years….I appreciate that everyone is busy, but my partner feels like he’s been written off!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've recently discovered that your partner's cancer has returned and that you're having difficulty getting a response from his hospital team.

I haven't had to use them myself, but I do know that PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) is available to help people resolve any concerns they may have when navigating the NHS. You could contact the one based at your husband's hospital and talk through your problems about lack of communication with them.

When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about about your partner's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
